“Be My TimeMate” Community Project as operated by HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre is funded by Bank of China (Hong Kong). This project puts emphasis on meeting the needs of carers of underprivileged families in Kwai Tsing district and applies the Time Bank’s concept as an approach in promoting exchanging of time and potentials among carers, ultimately building a helpful and friendly community. In addition to recruiting carers to become members, the project encourages the participation of the whole community to build an accessible neighbourhood support network. The project provides a series of support network and potential-exploring activities, and organizes carers and community people to become volunteers to help each other, so as to relieve carers’ mental and physical pressure. At the same time, the project collects all kinds of donation in society. Carers can redeem daily necessities by using their community currency via a mutual-aid platform. This takes some of the economic burden off their shoulders.
